SEPTEMBER 8, 2010—URBANA, IA—Clickstop Inc. of Urbana recently added a new brand to its growing portfolio of consumer-oriented retail web sites. This is the fourth consumer brand purchased by the company this year.Space Savers, a housewares company offering storage and organization products and small furniture items, was purchased by Clickstop last week. Clickstop co-owner Shaun Linderbaum finalized the deal with Space Savers CEO and founder Abner Wright at that company’s former headquarters in North Carolina.
Space Savers began as a retailer of products for kitchens, closets and laundry in 1990. In 1998, the company launched a commerce-based web site to diversify channels and capture sales beyond the eastern United States, where the company concentrated its physical retail presence.
The company ceased all operations in June as Mr. Wright sought a qualified buyer for the e-commerce segment of the business.
Mr. Linderbaum said Clickstop will integrate Space Savers into its e-commerce platform and back-end operations.
Clickstop expects SpaceSavers.com to become operational again in four to eight weeks. After the holiday season, Clickstop will revamp the Space Savers site and expand the product offerings.
