The Fairfield Economic Development Association (FEDA) and EDC Announce Joint Program

FAIRFIELD, IA—SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 – The Fairfield Economic Development Association will hold its 2010 annual meeting Thursday evening September 23 at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.  FEDA, celebrating its thirty-first year in 2010, announced Tuesday that Curt Nelson, President & CEO of the Cedar Rapids-based Entrepreneurial Development Center, Inc. and Jane Burroughs, EDC Vice President of Operations, will be on hand to help make a “significant joint program announcement” at the meeting, according to FEDA Executive Director Brent Willett.  Willett said that details about the program will be announced by FEDA and EDC officials at the Annual Meeting.

“We are privileged that Curt and Jane have made themselves available to be on hand Thursday to help announce the establishment of a new FEDA-EDC program venture which will serve to supplement the entrepreneurial development priorities of our organization and the Fairfield area,” he said.

“We have been very fortunate to work with many quality business founders from the Fairfield area over the years, and all of us at EDC look forward to an increasing involvement with this great entrepreneurial community” added Nelson.

“The FEDA Annual Meeting is an opportunity each year to inform our members on our accomplishments, challenges and performance from the current year and acquaint them with plans for the coming year,” said FEDA President Pat Doyle.  “At this meeting, we’ve got the added benefit of a very exciting program announcement and we are fortunate to have Curt and Jane scheduled to appear to help make it.  I encourage all FEDA members to attend the meeting.”

Also included in the business meeting, which will be preceded by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, will be reports from Doyle, FEDA Treasurer Craig Foss and Willett.  Willett’s report will include the release of the findings of the 2010 Fairfield Existing Business Initiative, a FEDA outreach program which saw FEDA representatives visit and interview nearly 30 Fairfield-area companies to gauge the condition of the local economy through the lens of local business.

The FEDA Annual Meeting begins at 5:30 pm at the Convention Center’s atrium, where complimentary hors d’oeuvres prepared by Top of the Rock Restaurant and a cash bar will be featured.  The business meeting begins at 6:30 pm in the Cambridge Investment Research meeting room.  All FEDA members and their guests are invited and encouraged to attend.  Reservations are encouraged.
